Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

There are so components to this recipe that make it fantastic – tacos (delicious), shrimp (a great alternative to ground beef or chicken), Member’s Mark™ Bang Bang Seasoning (uniquely spicy and sweet), and the air fryer (a quick, healthy way to make crispy shrimp)! Add these all up, and you have one scrumptious meal!

Tips for Cooking Crispy Shrimp in the Air Fryer

1. Dry the shrimp well

  • Pat shrimp thoroughly with paper towels before seasoning or breading. Extra moisture makes them steam instead of crisp.

2. Use a coating

  • For a breaded crunch: dredge in flour → dip in beaten egg → coat with panko or seasoned breadcrumbs.

  • For a lighter crisp: toss in corn starch, a little flour, or seasoned rice flour.

3. Preheat the air fryer

  • Run it at 375–400°F for a few minutes before adding shrimp so they start crisping right away.

4. Don’t overcrowd

  • Lay shrimp in a single layer with space between. Overlapping makes them soggy.

5. Light oil spray

  • A quick mist of cooking spray (or brush of oil) over the coating helps with browning and crunch.

6. Cook hot and fast

  • 375–400°F for 6–8 minutes is usually enough, depending on shrimp size. Flip halfway for even crispness.

For the Shrimp

For the Bang Bang Sauce

For the Slaw

To Serve

  • 10 Flour tortillas
  • Chopped green onion for garnish
  • Sliced radishes for garnish

Instructions

  • Use paper towels to pat shrimp dry. Then set up a dredging station with 3 shallow bowls. To the first bowl, combine the corn starch, Member's Mark™ Bang Bang Seasoning, and salt and pepper (as desired). To the second bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs. To the last bowl, add the eggs and a splash of water; whisk until combined.
  • Dip each shrimp into the corn starch, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs. Place breaded shrimp onto air fryer basket and them with cooking spray. You will likely need to cook the shrimp in two separate batches.
  • Air fry the shrimp at 390℉ for 7 minutes, flipping halfway through. After flipping the shrimp, spray the other side with oil and return to the air fryer.
  • While the shrimp is cooking, add all of the bang bang sauce ingredients to a medium bowl; whisk until smooth. Then, add all of the slaw ingredients to a large bowl and toss to combine.
  • After the shrimp is done cooking, add it to a large bowl and pour the bang bang sauce over top (reserving a small amount as garnish). Gently toss to coat the shrimp.
  • Warm the tortillas. Assemble the tacos, starting with the tortillas, a bit of slaw, the shrimp, any leftover bang bang sauce, and garnish with green onion and radish slices.
