Tone’s® Italian Stromboli

If you’re like us, you count down the days until pizza night, but why not try changing it up a little? Tone’s® Italian Stromboli features everything you love about pizza (the meats, the melty cheese, the dough, the sauce) all rolled up into convenient bite-sized pieces! This recipe uses Tone’s® Italian Seasoning to add the traditional pizza flavor you love.

While you already know this meal sounds absolutely delicious, you might not be familiar with everything a stromboli entails.  Let us enlighten you a little!

What is stromboli?
Stromboli is a type of Italian-American dish made with pizza dough and various fillings, typically including cheeses, meats like salami, pepperoni, or sausage, and sometimes vegetables. The fillings are wrapped in the dough, rolled into a cylindrical or rectangular shape, and then baked until golden. It’s similar to a calzone, though stromboli is usually rolled like a Swiss roll, while calzones are folded.

This recipe uses pizza sauce for dipping, but here are some other fun options to try!

  • Marinara Sauce – The classic choice, similar to pizza sauce, it pairs perfectly with the meats, cheese, and dough.
  • Garlic Butter Sauce – A rich, buttery option with a hint of garlic to enhance the flavors.
  • Ranch Dressing – Creamy and tangy, it’s a favorite for those who enjoy a milder dip.
  • Alfredo Sauce – For a creamier, indulgent option, this works well, especially with cheese-heavy Strombolis.
  • Hot Sauce – For those who enjoy a bit of heat with their bite.
  • Pesto – An herbaceous option for a more fresh and aromatic dip.

Tone's® Italian Stromboli

This recipe uses Tone's® Italian Seasoning to add the traditional pizza flavor you love.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • ¾ cup Pizza sauce, plus additional sauce for dipping
  • 16 slices Hard salami
  • 20 slices Pepperoni
  • ¼ lb Sliced ham
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Tone's® Italian Seasoning, divided
  • 1 tbsp Butter, melted
  • ¼ cup Grated parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375℉. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the pizza dough to approximately 10 inches by 15 inches. Top with the pizza sauce. Then add the salami, pepperoni, ham, and mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle ½ tsp Tone's® Italian Seasoning over the cheese.
  • Roll the the dough up, starting with the short side. Pinch the two ends and fold them under. Place the stromboli seam side down on the baking sheet. Using a sharp knife, cut three or four slits in the top of the dough to let steam escape.
  • Brush the dough with the melted butter. Then sprinkle on the parmesan cheese and remaining ½ tsp Tone's® Italian Seasoning. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
