Comforting Chai Latte

Take a few moments to yourself and enjoy this Comforting Chai Latte! A chai latte combines the bold, aromatic spices of chai (such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper) with creamy steamed milk. It gives you a little caffeine boost, but it’s calming at the same time!

This recipe uses takes the “easy route” by using a chai tea bag, which already includes the aromatic chai spices.  If you’re in the mood though, you can make the chai (spiced tea) from scratch!

Homemade Chai

  •
  • 2 cups milk of your choice

  • Add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, peppercorns, and cloves to the bowl of a mortar (or cutting board) and use pestle (or heavy pan) to slightly crush the spices.
  • Add crushed spices, water, and grated (or sliced) ginger to a small saucepan, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat slightly to medium/medium-low and maintain a simmer for 15 minutes or until it reduces by about one-third.
  • Add tea (loose leaf or bags) and milk of choice and lower heat to low. Cover and continue cooking for 5 minutes. Then turn off heat and let steep for 5 minutes more (covered) or longer for deeper flavor.
  • Follow the instructions below to make the foam/cinnamon topping!
