Nothing says autumn like a warm mug of homemade apple cider. This easy Homemade Apple Cider recipe combines crisp Honeycrisp and Granny Smith apples with fresh orange, cinnamon, cloves, and a touch of sugar for a cozy drink that fills the kitchen with the flavors and aromas of the season.
The recipe starts with a mix of sweet and tart apples, which creates a balanced cider with plenty of natural apple flavor. An orange adds a bright citrus note, while Member’s Mark™ Cinnamon Sticks and ground cloves bring classic fall spice. Member’s Mark™ Granulated Sugar adds just enough sweetness to round everything out. The ingredients all go into a slow cooker and are covered with water, making this a simple, hands-off recipe that’s perfect for a chilly afternoon or a weekend at home.
After cooking, the softened apples and orange are mashed directly in the slow cooker to release even more of their flavor. The cinnamon sticks are returned to the mixture for another hour of cooking, allowing the spices to infuse the cider even further. Finally, everything is slowly strained through a fine mesh strainer to create a smooth, flavorful cider.
