Autumn Apple Cobbler

The best way to celebrate fall? With a warm apple cobbler, straight from the oven! This recipe features Member’s Mark™ Ground Cinnamon for a cozy autumn touch.

What Apples Work Best for Autumn Apple Cobbler?

For apple cobbler, you’ll want apples that hold their shape when baked and balance sweetness with tartness. Here are some of the best choices:

Top Picks for Cobbler

  • Granny Smith – firm, tart, and reliable for baking.

  • Honeycrisp – juicy with a sweet-tart balance.

  • Braeburn – crisp with a slightly spicy, complex flavor.

  • Jonagold – sweet with a touch of tang, great for mixing.

  • Pink Lady (Cripps Pink) – tart, firm, and slow to brown.

Best Combo Approach: Using a mix of tart (like Granny Smith) and sweet (like Honeycrisp or Jonagold) gives the cobbler a fuller flavor and keeps it from being overly sweet.

What to Serve with Autumn Apple Cobbler

Apple cobbler is warm, cozy, and a little rustic, so the best pairings either complement that comfort or balance the sweetness. Here are some ideas:

Classic Pairings

  • Vanilla ice cream – the most popular choice; melty and creamy against the warm cobbler.

  • Whipped cream – lightly sweetened or flavored with cinnamon.

  • Caramel sauce – drizzled on top for extra indulgence.

Warm & Cozy Options

  • Cinnamon or spiced ice cream – enhances the apple filling.

  • Maple whipped cream – adds a fall twist.

  • Warm custard or crème anglaise – traditional in some places.

Lighter / Fresh Pairings

  • Fresh berries – like raspberries or cranberries to add tartness.

  • Greek yogurt – tangy and creamy, a lighter alternative.

  • Fruit compote – like cranberry-orange for a festive touch.

Beverage Pairings

  • Hot apple cider

  • Chai tea or spiced black tea

  • Coffee with cinnamon

  • Sparkling wine or hard cider if you want something celebratory.
