While homemade donuts may seem intimidating, the simple step-by-step method transforms a handful of everyday ingredients into a bakery-worthy treat. Many home bakers agree that homemade donuts are surprisingly approachable, and even better than store-bought when served fresh.

Of course, the real fun begins once the donuts are cooked. This recipe serves as the perfect blank canvas for a variety of toppings and finishes. Keep things classic with a simple glaze, roll them in cinnamon sugar, drizzle them with chocolate, or top them with colorful sprinkles for a festive touch. You can even create multiple flavors from a single batch, making them ideal for family baking days, brunches, birthdays, or weekend treats.

The versatility doesn’t stop there. Fill them with jam, pastry cream, or chocolate hazelnut spread, or enjoy them warm with nothing more than a dusting of powdered sugar. Instructions

  • Warm the milk in the microwave or over the stovetop until it's about 100° F. Pour half the milk into a bowl with the Fleischmann's® Active Dry Yeast and 1 tsp of Member's Mark™ Granulated Sugar.
  • Stir to combine and let the mixture sit for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the mixture should be bubbly and frothy.
  • Add the remaining milk, melted butter, Member's Mark™ Granulated Sugar, Member's Mark™ Sea Salt, and 2 cups of Member's Mark™ All Purpose Flour. Knead until fully combined.
  • Slowly add the remaining Member's Mark™ All Purpose Flour until the dough is tacky, but doesn't stick to the bowl or surface. Knead again for 5 minutes.
  • Leave the bowl in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap for one hour. This will allow the dough to rise.
  • Once risen, roll out the dough and cut into donut shapes using a round cookie cutter.
  • Pour about 2 inches of fry oil in the bottom of a pan and heat until 350° F. Fry the donuts for about 1 minute on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Once golden brown, let the donuts rest on a cooling rack and repeat the process with the remaining dough. Once all donuts are fried and cooled, top them with your favorite frosting or glaze.
